Derma Science Spa Chemical peels

What is a chemical peel?

"Chemical peel" is a treatment used to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. Chemical peels reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun exposure, aging and genetics. They can also treat age spots, freckles, some types of acne and acne scars. Contrary to popular belief, the most commonly used "chemical" peels are actually from natural sources such as sugar, milk, grapes, citrus fruits, flowers and wintergreen leaves. A special solution is applied to the skin to remove the outermost layer of the skin and reveal the fresh, less wrinkled layer below.

At Derma Science Spa we use different types of chemical peels depending upon the condition of your skin and the objectives of treatment. Our chemical peel gels by ATZEN, France are gentle and easily tolerated even by sensitive skin. They contain plenty of aloe vera and vitamin E, and glycolic acid.

What to expect?

We apply a special solution to the skin, which than “peels off”, eliminating dead cells and leaving your skin younger-looking, free of wrinkles, blemishes, uneven pigmentation regions and even acne.

During the procedure, most patients experience itching sensation that lasts about 2 minutes. Peeling sometimes involves redness; this is normal reaction to the peel because of increased blood circulation; and it is the process of the skin rejuvenating itself.

 Is it safe?

Chemical peel is usually a very safe procedure when performed by a qualified skin care professional. Please inform us about your current medical conditions and medications prior to your treatment to determine what chemical peel is right for you.
